Cory & Sarah’s Cross-Border Bash: A Rock ‘n’ Roll Wedding at Portmarnock Hotel

Forget the usual wedding photography; this was a real deal, rock ‘n’ roll wedding with Portmarnock hotel as the stage. October surprised us with warm weather, perfect for an outdoor shindig wedding at the Portmarnock Hotel. The rustic sheltered gardens became our gig, and the beach? That was our little trip for some kick-ass beach wedding in Ireland shots.

The Ceremony: Culture Clash in the Best Way

Cory, the Canadian firefighter with a look that could melt ice, and Sarah, the Irish lass with a heart as big as her smile, brought their worlds together in one epic bash. The wedding photography was all about catching those raw, unfiltered moments where two cultures collided in the best way possible. As Sarah said to me in her very first email

” 50% Canadian, 50% Irish. Cory is from Canada and Sarah from Ireland. Our wedding will be the first and most likely the last time that all our friends and families will get to meet and be in the same place. Making it even more special in every way, we want to ensure that is captured forever in our photos.”

With that in mind I wanted the majority of the photographs to be about real talk and real moments. As always, there’s time for a few posed photos too! But overall, no fluff here, just genuine moments caught on camera. As your Irish wedding photographer, I was all about shooting the real, the raw, and the rocking. Sarah was in her element, connecting with everyone with such genuine appreciation and yet always found time to sip at the black stuff. When she wasn’t mingling, she was running against the wind at the beach that gave us some epic, windswept natural photography.

Tears, Tunes, and Tradition
The speeches? Emotional as hell, especially with Sarah’s dad’s memory hanging heavy in the air. Both their uncles came prepared with tissues, knowing damn well what was coming. A box of Kleenex wasn’t enough. And when Cory sang with his dad, it was like a scene straight out of a rock ballad. Then, we had some Irish dancing that turned the reception into a mosh pit of joy.

Cory and Sarah’s wedding at Portmarnock wasn’t just an event; it was a statement. A day where love hit all the right notes, and Irish documentary wedding photography captured the essence without any of the BS.
